Thankful Thursday

Happy Thankful Thursday!

I woke up this morning and was feeling a little down.  This time of year, I always create a campaign of giving to help others in need.  This year I will not be able to personally give like in the past, but I decided to try and get others to join me in giving, hoping to reach the same generous goals of previous years.  To do this I piggybacked on a Reverse Advent Calendar I had come across last year where each day you put one food item in a box, and at the end of the month you donate the food to a food bank.  Putting my personal touch on the Reverse Advent Calendar, I thought it would be a great idea to start my box, encourage others at my children’s school to join me, and have the school disseminate the food to students who are in need.

“HavingHaving a grateful spirt, however, will make us take a pause and realize we live in a crazy world, but it is the grateful people that will keep this world grounded. ”

I posted to the school group chat and received a few likes, a couple hug emojis, but no one said they wanted to join me.  I was sad.  I felt deflated.  Nonetheless, I woke up this morning preparing to put my second item in my give away box.  As I was looking around in my pantry for something to put in the box God gave me pause.  I realized I had every item I needed to complete the 31-day Reverse Advent Calendar without having to go to the grocery store.  I HAD EVERY ITEM I NEEDED.  I had to let that resonate in my spirit.  I have enough food in my pantry to feed my family and give 31 items without going hungry.  I AM THANKFUL!  I AM BLESSED!

You see, so often we get caught up in the things that make us feel sad, make us feel angry, or make us feel defeated when we should be giving thanks for the small things.  A grateful spirit is not about living a perfect life.  A grateful spirit is about being thankful, even during life’s imperfections.  We live in a complex world.  Every day there are things that happen around us that we could complain about.  Having a grateful spirt, however, will make us take a pause and realize we live in a crazy world, but it is the grateful people that will keep this world grounded.  It is the grateful people that will help others find their joy.  It is the grateful people that will remind others to be thankful for all of God’s glory.

I am THANKFUL!  I am GRATEFUL!  I am BLESSED!

As you move on today through this journey we call life, take a pause to say, “thank you”.  If for nothing more than you found yourself on the top side of the dirt this morning, you should say “thank you”.

I wish you an amazing day.  I am grateful for you!
